The varied and interesting topics of discussion included:

  • The business impact of the Cup in Brazil

  • The status of Brazil’s preparations, transportation infrastructure and stadium construction

  • Protests and allegations of corruption

  • The storied tradition of football in Brazil

  • Post World Cup issues and concerns.

The audience, in its majority graduate students of the Sports Industry Management Program,  took part in the relevant and stimulating “questions and answers” part of the program.  The students received real answers to their questions and left with a more in-depth understanding of what is taking place in Brazil and of the realities of organizing an event with such dimension and implications as  the World Cup.     “ It was a pleasure to participate in this event and discuss the  important  topics related to the World Cup and Brazil with the students at GU.  Their interest and insightful questions regarding the World Cup and other international sporting events was refreshing and encouraging.”, stated Pierce, who’s international business development firm has four partner clients providing services at the World Cup. .   Jimmy Lynn best summed up the night: “It was an engaging session and the time flew by….  A home run of an event!”
